Cosplay Pieces

I have worked on a variety of pieces for cosplay and events over the past few years, building my skills in sewing, pattern drafting, and 3D printing, makeup, and more.

Thanatos Tunic & Gauntlet

from Hades (SuperGiant Games)

To achieve Thanatos' dark yet shimmery color pallet, I selected a color-shifting blended fabric to be the focal point. This turned out to be a great match; the green to purple shift did a great job replicating the game's cell-shaded art style.

For the garment's construction, I first sewed the base out of black spandex. After making adjustments to the pattern for a better fit, I sewed the color-shift fabric onto the outside of the base. I added extra length to this fabric too in order to hide small pleats that would help it create nice draping down the torso. I then finished the garment by hand-stitching a binding out of gold spandex around the neck/chest opening.

I also 3D modeled Thanatos' gauntlet. I designed and printed many iterations in order to experiment with both the proportions and how the gauntlet attached to the wearer.

SuperGiant Games' characters and art-style are extremely vivid and unique. Trying to re-create their art in the real world was a challenge that taught me a lot about mixing materials and focusing on how a silhouette reads.
